Your Dendi LIS Isn't Losing You Money. The Handoff to Billing Is.

No lab moved to Dendi expecting it to argue with payers. That isn’t its job; it takes the order from the portal, runs the rules, releases the result, and exports the data for billing. The money leaks out in between, in the gap between what the bench performed and what the claim actually says. Most lab owners don’t catch it until a denial batch lands or aging passes 90 days, and by then it isn’t a fix, it’s a write-off.

Here's where it actually happens, by platform:

Where It Happens
What Happens
Real Cost
Provider Client Portal — Order Entry, Diagnosis & Standing Orders
Dendi's portal includes a diagnosis code finder, but providers still pick vague codes, skip insurance details, or lean on standing orders. Many payers reject blanket standing orders for drug testing and want each order tied to a specific clinical need.
Dendi's own figures put more than half of lab denials at order entry. Fix the order and most of the denial problem goes with it.
Rules & Workflow Automation — Reflex and Panel Charge Drift
Dendi's rules engine can reflex a screen to confirmation or add tests on its own. Each test still needs the right CPT code after every January update. Definitive drug tests must land in the correct G0480 to G0483 tier, and molecular UTI or respiratory panels need units that match what was actually detected.
Labs that never audit their test-to-CPT map send claims that pass and still pay wrong. Clean does not always mean correctly paid.
RCM Export & Integrations — The Data Handoff to Billing
Dendi exports data and connects to clearinghouses and RCM vendors, but a clean export isn't a clean claim. Eligibility checked at intake can change by the date of service, and one mismatched field, a member ID or a policy, stalls the whole claim.
This produces the denials nobody can explain. The test was billed as always; the payer's record just didn't match the export.
Every Lab — Medical Necessity, Prior Auth & Timely Filing
PGx, oncology genomics, and many molecular tests need prior authorization, a MolDX Z-code, or diagnosis codes that meet the LCD or NCD. If nobody checks before the specimen runs, the claim goes out clean and still comes back denied, while lag eats into the filing window.
Timely filing denials are avoidable almost 100% of the time. They're a process gap, not a payer decision.
None of this means Dendi is doing anything wrong. It means lab billing is its own discipline, built around how Dendi actually handles orders, rules, and exports, and that’s what most labs are missing.

Not sure which of these is actually happening in your claims?

That’s exactly what the free audit below is built to find out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dendi LIS, and what do its Provider Client Portal, rules engine, and billing tools each do?

Dendi LIS is a cloud-native laboratory information system for CLIA labs running toxicology, molecular and PCR, PGx, chemistry, infectious disease, hematology, microbiology, and oncology genomics testing. The Provider Client Portal handles ordering and results with a diagnosis code finder, the rules engine automates reflex and workflow steps, and the billing tools cover eligibility checks, clearinghouse interfaces, data exports, and RCM vendor integrations.

Do we need a specialized billing company if our lab already uses Dendi?

Dendi manages orders, results, and billing data, but it doesn't guarantee a clean, correctly paid claim. Most lab billing errors happen in the handoff between what the lab performed and what actually gets billed, which is why labs on Dendi benefit from Dendi billing services run by people who know those patterns.

Can TransLabs Billing work with our existing Dendi setup without changing our workflow?

Yes. Our onboarding maps to your existing test menu, rules, portal setup, and export format rather than asking your lab to change how it already runs.

What does the free Dendi billing audit include?

A review of sample claims, test-to-CPT mapping, portal order quality, and export data from your Dendi environment to find denial trends, missed charges, and coding gaps, delivered at no cost and with no obligation.

Do you handle toxicology, PGx, and molecular infectious disease billing on Dendi?

Yes. We manage presumptive and definitive drug test coding, PGx prior authorizations and Z-codes, molecular panel units, frequency limits, and client-bill versus insurance splits, alongside standard commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid lab claims.

How much does it cost to outsource lab billing to a company like TransLabs?

Outsourced lab billing is usually priced as a percentage of collections rather than a flat fee, which keeps the incentive aligned; we only get paid when you get paid. The exact percentage depends on claim volume, test mix, and how much A/R cleanup is needed. We quote a specific number after the free audit, since a rate quoted without real claims data isn't worth trusting.
